Scouts

(Ages 11-14)

The Scout section is for boys and girls aged 11 to 14 years and offers an amazing array of activities designed to teach important life skills and get Scouts social and active!

Scouts, as a section, focuses on allowing young people to develop their confidence and teaches them how to work as part of a team. Scouts learn essential outdoor safety skills as well as participate in a variety of physical and intellectual challenges. The programs are designed to target each young person’s own special interests, encouraging them to enjoy their favourite hobbies using meaningful badges and awards.

Our Scout Section runs monthly camps and encourages our Youth to attend as many as they can. Each camp is themed around different activities - from canoe camp to survival and snow camp, we develop a camping program aimed at teaching essential outdoors skills whilst having a blast. We’re regular attendees at state run competative camping and bushwalking events.

At this age, our Scouts are given a great deal of independence to start taking responsibility for their program and are given the opportunity to try new thing. We establish a supportive environment where supported failure is as much a success as a smoothly run event. For Youth of this age, being able to take supported risks, developing resilience and learning to stand on their own feet as independent young adults is essential.
